This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find … themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. … they mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated.
Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal.
Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? … Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?”
Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe … life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.

no i’m not gonna lie. i miss you. i try to get myself busy on a lot of things but even the book im reading right now reminds me of you. i knew that it would boil down to this- that things will end, that things have to end- but never did i imagine it would hit me this hard. feeling ko ang OA pro that’s really how i feel, mabigat. i try to put on a mantra that says “keri”, but it doesn’t help. all this pretending - that i have the slightest interest on you- is firing back at me. i miss malambing or how id call flirt. i miss randomness. i miss the moments when my phone would ring unexpectedly (coz now it does so only for council and org stuff). i miss sharing secrets and stories. i haven’t learned to trust anyone this much til we started texting. i even miss having to add a smiley on every text to signal my mood’s up or just to return yours…
you told me once you get attached to things too easily- i laughed at you then coz i never thought you could be that sentimental. now i only laugh at myself for being just that- senti.
you’re too preoccupied these days with other stuff that i felt i was a stranger… i had to unfollow coz i feel a sting whenever i see you tweet with people na di ko bet. this sucks.
should you by any chance read this. i know it wouldn’t help mend what i myself have broken and this would only make you pity me- just like toot… but please, that’s the last thing i’d want from you or from anyone.
i’m not really a fan of people vomiting their deepest thoughts online but now i see where they are coming from and i cant help but join the club.
oh well, here’s to me tripping over the same rock… with someone pa bearing the same name! (anyare sa learn from your mistakes? kalurx!)
my imagination’s running wild right now reading Catching Fire :D
